Here are some of the most well-known character actors in Mortal Kombat 1, from Jean-Claude Van Damme to Megan Fox!
In Mortal Kombat 1, the story starts over, but it also picks up where the last game left off. Many characters are reimagined, while others stay on the same tracks. At its core, though, this is still Mortal Kombat.
Voice actors are a mix of old and new, just like the story of the game. Some are famous people who play cameos in ways that are different from what they’ve meant in the past. You can still enjoy great conversation whether you’re really into the story or just want to hear the characters talk before a match.
Kenshi – Vic Chao

In this game, Vic Chao plays Kenshi again. Kenshi is a blind fighter who hasn’t lost his sight yet. From the game’s theme, you can guess that Kenshi will look and act pretty much the same, blade aside.
Vic has voiced other characters in Mortal Kombat games, like Sektor and Goro, so he is familiar with the world of the game. Aside from games, he’s also been in other projects, mostly as minor characters in games like Ghost of Tsushima, Final Fantasy 7 Remake, and Marvel’s Midnight Suns.
Nitara – Megan Fox

Megan Fox is an actress who is like the second most well-known name in the cast. She is best known for her part in the Transformers movies. She voices and looks like Nitara in Mortal Kombat 1, who is a vampire demon who was first seen in Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance.
Even though Megan has played blood-splattered monsters before (see Jennifer’s Body), she doesn’t seem to be very good at voice acting. It’s still nice to see characters from less well-known MK games come back, no matter what form they take.
Kitana And Mileena – Kari Wahlgren

Kari Wahlgren plays both Kitana and Mileena again. She is a very busy actress who has been in a lot of movies and TV shows, like Cyberpunk 2077, Gotham Nights, and Guild Wars 2. She does a great job voicing both characters, as she does with all of her parts. At times, you might wonder if she is really doing all of the voices.
Some people might find it strange that the same actress voices two characters, especially in two games in a row. However, this has been the case with the two “sisters” for a long time, since Mileena is always thought to be a copy of Kitana, with a few toothy changes. They are often the other player’s counterpick in games.
Kung Lao – Sunil Malhotra

In Mortal Kombat 1, Kung Lao and his hat are back, and Sunil Malhotra does his voice again. The character and his wide-brimmed hat are iconic to the show, even though he has a less privileged beginning in the story. Still, his deaths due to hats will definitely come back.
Sunil is known for both his part as Kung Lao and the voice of Akshan in League of Legends. More recently, has played Gilmore, the owner of the city’s main magic shop, in Critical Role’s animation show.
Liu Kang – Matthew Yang King

Liu Kang comes back to the show in a big way as the leader of the change. His behavior has changed, and he is now a god responsible for making the new timeline. Even though a lot has changed, his voice hasn’t changed because Matthew Yang King is back as the martial artist.
Matthew has been in a lot of movies and TV shows, including the most recent one, Elemental. His voice can be heard in video games like Diablo 4 and Death Stranding. He does a lot of voice work, so you might be surprised at how many pictures you see him in.
Sub-Zero – Kaiji Tang

Since a lot of the old cast stayed the same, it seemed odd that Sub-Zero’s actress would change. However, a lot of the character has changed. As the Lin Kuei master in Mortal Kombat 1, Kaiji Tang does the voice, and no one can argue that he does a great job with it.
Many people know Kaiji for his parts, but Ichiban Kasuga in the Yakuza series is his most famous. Thanks to Yakuza: Like a Dragon, this role has become a leading one. Plus, he played Vegeta in the Dragon Ball Super cartoon.
Scorpion – Ron Yuan

Scorpion is the character who has changed the most since the last Mortal Kombat game. In fact, the name behind the mask is now something else. The new situation is nice because he’s now Sub-Zero’s brother. They will still be rivals, but a different one.
Since there are so many differences, you might think that the voice actor would be different, but it’s not. Ron Yuan is back to voice the most famous character in the games. Ron also plays a lot of bit parts in other games, like Yakuza and 8 Ball Pool.
Smoke – Yuri Lowenthal

Smoke used to be a cyborg, so it might seem strange that he is now a ninja instead, but that’s how his story started. There’s no word on whether he’ll go back to wearing metal in future games, but we do know that Yuri Lowenthal does a great job as Smoke.
He has played many roles in the entertainment business, but Peter Parker in Insomniac’s Spider-Man (and even in Spider-Man: Across the Spiderverse), Yosuke Hanamura in Persona 4, and Sasuke Uchiha in all the Naruto games are his most well-known.
Johnny Cage – Andrew Bowen And Jean-Claude Van Damme

In Mortal Kombat 1, Johnny Cage fans will have a lot of options because there is an easy-to-find skin that makes Johnny look and sound just like Jean-Claude Van Damme. This is important because the idea for Johnny came from Jean-Claude movies, so having him play the part feels like coming full circle.
But for the story mode, Andrew Bowen will play the same part he has for more than ten years, which is a good fit for him. Even though Johnny Cage was based on Van Damme at first, Andrew Bowen really brings the character to life, and it shows in every scene he’s in during the campaign.
