Palm Springs International Airport (PSP)
The San Bernardino National Forest, which includes the highest alpine mountains and deserts in Southern California, is only a short drive from Palm Springs. This is the ideal destination for those looking to escape the city grind and find a peaceful place to retreat to nature. You can commune with nature at the intersection of the Colorado and Mojave deserts. For birding, biking, and stargazing under clear skies, trek to Joshua Tree National Park.
An emergency landing area made PSP for the United States Army Air Corps in 1939. The location of this area was the Agua Caliente Band, Cahuilla Indians.
The War Department approved improvements to Palm Springs’ existing airport as necessary for National Defense in March 1941. In November 1941, the Air Corps Ferrying Command 21st Ferrying Group approved the airport to be used as a staging area. A half-mile from the old airfield site, then they purchase land to construct a significant airport. The new Palm Springs Army Airfield was built in 1942. Then the old airfield becomes a backup.
Current Scenario
The comfortable Lapaz Guest Ranch was home to many Air Transport Command 560th Army Air Forces Base Unit personnel. The 72d and the 73d Ferrying Squadrons provided training in navigation and long-distance overwater flying. The training was provided later for pursuit pilot training by IV Fighter Command 459th Base Headquarters and Air Base Squadron. The training was done in P-51 Mustangs and P-40 Warhawks.
Training moved to Brownsville Army Airfield in Texas on June 1, 1944. Moreover, the airfield was in use until April 1945 for Army and Navy transport flights. On May 12, 1945, the auxiliary or backup field was declared surplus, and the main airport was exempt. It was transferred to the War Assets Administration to be disposed of in 1946. Then the airfield was given to private purchases. In 1961, the City of Palm Springs bought the land and transformed it into Palm Springs Municipal Airport.
Bozeman Yellowstone International airport (BZN)

Prugh & Lenon Architects designed a terminal expansion that opened in 2011. It added three gates and additional retail concessions. Prugh & Lenon Architects designed expansions and renovations in 1995 and 1997.
In late 2011, Gallatin Field was given a new name, Bozeman Yellowstone International Airport to associate it with Yellowstone National Park better. After the opening of the U.S. Customs and Border Protection Facility on July 1, 2012, international flights were prohibited there. Signature Flight Support and Yellowstone Club contributed to the funding of this project. BZN was the busiest airport for passengers in Montana, with 879,221 passengers between June 2012 and May 2013.
Current scenario
In 2020 and 2021, the airport saw a massive expansion in service to 31 destinations. This was due to new airlines entering the market or adding routes to meet increased leisure demand. For example, Allegiant Air expanded its nonstop service to three cities, Alaska Airlines added two more routes, Avelo Airlines started service to one destination, and Southwest Airlines entered Montana with two destinations from Bozeman. Later, they added several more. Although, many of these markets were not previously commercially accessible from Bozeman, including Nashville and Washington, D.C.
Fresno Yosemite International Airport, FAT
You will be able to visit Sierra National Forest from Fresno when you land in Fresno. Beautiful scenery and stunning lakes are its specialties. You can also find the Forest near Sequoia National Park or Yosemite National Park. They are just over an hour from the airport.
The airport’s central location in the state makes it home to many militaries, law enforcement, and firefighting units. The 144th Fighter Wing, California Air National Guard’s California Air National Guard, is located at the airport’s southeast corner. Moreover, Fresno Air Attack Base, located on the eastern side of the airport, supports aerial firefighting aircraft. The airport is home to the California Army National Guard and the California Highway Patrol. It also houses the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office and Fresno Police Department. In addition, Fresno is the home of SkyWest Airlines’ largest regional airline, SkyWest Airlines.
